About The Club
The Fishers Island Yacht Club was founded in 1886 on the values of seamanship, camaraderie and the appreciation for all that Fishers Island sound and the surrounding waters provide. Over 130 years later, we remain true in our commitment to those values and have added a sense of duty to plan and act in a manner that helps preserve, conserve and protect West Harbor for future generations.
The club, through a joint partnership with the Hay Harbor Club, features classes and competitive opportunities in Optis, Lasers, BICs, Club 420s, Bullseyes and International One-Designs. Our instructors emphasize developing self-confidence, setting goals and above all, having fun. The junior sailing program’s Fishers Island Sailing Team (F.I.S.T.) has been the starting point for many junior sailors who have gone on to be successful collegiate sailors, win several class World Championships and medal in the Olympics.
The club property consists of a new annex building and adjacent club house with a covered veranda that opens onto a lovely waterfront lawn that accommodates the membership and visitors at the many club-hosted social events. Throughout the spring, summer and fall, you can find club members socializing on the veranda after weekend racing, at one of our Casting and Cocktails events or while making use of the club fire pit and fleet of stand-up paddleboards.
While we are a small club, we are always glad to meet like-minded, friendly people and welcome new members.
