Adult Sailing and Powerboating Classes 2021

The Fishers Island Yacht Club is dedicated to promoting seamanship and the love of sailing—starting with opportunities and lessons for our youngest members and continuing all the way through our eldest. It is never too late to learn or knock the rust off and get back out there.

Our sailing fleet is welcoming of all skill levels—enthusiasm is the only requirement (oh, and a life jacket). We offer instructional programs for juniors as well as clinics and private lessons for adults.

Please call schedule an adult sailing or motor boating lesson by completing the registration form attached at the end of each class description. Please bring a lifejacket if you have one.

Classes will be held Monday, July 5 through Saturday, August 21.

Adult Beginner Tues. 4:30-6pm at FIYC

The beginner class is a hands-on introduction to sailing with no experience necessary. An instructor will be in each boat during lessons, but students will be in charge of steering and sail trim as conditions warrant. The main focus of this class is safety on the water and basic maneuvers. No experience necessary. We sail our club-owned Bullseye fleet which are very safe fiberglass keel boats that use a main and jib. Join us afterwards on the YC deck for a drink and light refreshments.

Please sign up by completing this form at least 24 hours in advance.

Women’s Clinic: Mon. 4:30-6pm at FIYC
